TICKETS & HOURS
Box Office Hours
Doors open 45 minutes before the first showtime and remain open until 30 minutes after the start of the last showtime each day, unless otherwise noted.
Will Call
Tickets held at Will Call can be picked up at the podium inside the Theatre when you arrive.
Tickets
Tickets can be purchased on the State Theatre Website or in person at the concession stand. Online ticket options include e-delivery (print-at-home or mobile tickets) or easy Will Call pickup.
For films rated R, individuals under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Additionally, films rated NC-17 are restricted to those 17 and older.
Exchanges
If you find yourself in a scheduling pickle and the movie is playing on multiple days with available tickets, we’re happy to swap them for an alternate showtime. Unfortunately, we’re unable to exchange tickets for a different show.
Refunds
Once purchased, all sales are final. However, in the unlikely event the State Theatre has to cancel or postpone a screening, we will make every effort to notify ticket buyers via email with options for a full refund, credit for a future show, or the chance to donate your tickets to the Theatre.

The State Theatre is conveniently located on Phillips Avenue, nestled between 11th and 12th Street. Parking options are plentiful nearby, including street parking and public parking lots.
On-Street Metered Parking
Parking becomes FREE after 5pm daily, on weekends, and city holidays. Meter enforcement occurs Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. With over 200 smart parking meters available downtown, you’ll find plenty of available options. Parking fees can be paid by cash, debit or credit card at the meter.
Vehicles displaying a valid disability placard or license plate may park at city meters for free up to the meter’s maximum time limit.
Public Transportation
Sioux Area Metro (SAM) is the local bus service in Sioux Falls. Explore routes and fares by visiting the SAM webpage.
Pubic Parking Ramps & Lots
Three public parking ramps are situated conveniently close to the Theatre. Parking becomes FREE after 5pm daily, on weekends, and city holidays. On weekdays from 6 am to 5 pm, the fee is $1.50 per hour.
– 1st Avenue Parking Ramp: Entrances can be found on 10th or 11th Street between 1st Avenue and Mall Avenue.
– South 1st Avenue Parking Lot: Access is available on 1st Avenue between 11th and 12th Streets.
– Pavilion Parking Ramp: Entrance off Main Avenue between 12th and 13th Streets.

ACCESSIBILITY
Seating
For easy access to the main floor from the auditorium landing, the theatre is equipped with a motorized lift conveniently located on the south side of the Theatre, to the right of the doors.
Within the main Theatre, we offer five designated wheelchair spaces, each with companion seating available.
If you require assistance with seating arrangements, please don’t hesitate to ask any of our friendly State Theatre employees.
Restrooms
All our restrooms are ADA accessible and are located on the main level of the lobby.
Parking
There are two designated accessible parking spots conveniently located on Phillips Avenue near the Theatre. The first spot is situated in front of the Phillips Centre on the east side of the street, just north of the Theatre. The second spot is directly across from the Theatre, in front of Atoley Salon. Additionally, the sidewalk adjacent to the Dacotah Bank drive-up is available for drop-offs and pick-ups.
Animals
We kindly ask that you refrain from bringing animals or pets into the Theatre. However, service animals, as defined by the ADA, such as guide dogs, are welcome. These animals are individually trained to perform tasks for individuals with disabilities. Please note that emotional support animals are not permitted.

Enhanced Audio
We offer audio description and closed captioning for films encoded with this feature. Unsure if your chosen film is supported? Simply check with our box office staff. Our listening devices are readily available upon request at the concession stand.

Merchandise
Our selection of t-shirts, hoodies and stickers are conveniently available at the concession stand during regular box office hours or online. It’s a fantastic way to show support for your independent community cinema!
Open Carry
The State Theatre does not allow weapons of any sort on Theatre property.
Rentals & Special Events
The State Theatre offers rental opportunities for film screenings, meetings, presentations, birthday parties and special events, accommodating approximately 155 guests in the main auditorium. However, it’s important to note that the Theatre is not equipped for weddings, school performances, film shoots, or concerts. For further details, availability, and pricing tailored to your specific needs, please reach out to us.
Seating Capacity
The State Theatre can seat a maximum of 155 in the main auditorium. The balcony is not currently available for seating.
Smoking
In accordance with State of South Dakota law, smoking and vaping is prohibited on State Theatre property.
Tours & Field Trips
